About Sophie

At A little help, we believe family routines should feel calmer, more connected, and less stressful.

I created A little help as both a Speech and Language Therapist and a mum of three who understands the reality of busy mornings — the reminders, rushing, and overwhelm that can come with daily routines.

Our wooden visual schedules are designed to support children in a simple, engaging, and empowering way. Visual prompts help children understand expectations, build independence, and reduce reliance on repeated verbal instructions. They can be especially helpful for young children, neurodivergent children, and those who benefit from predictable routines and clear structure.

Research and clinical experience show visual supports can:

  • Reduce anxiety and overwhelm
  • Improve understanding and processing
  • Encourage independence
  • Support language development
  • Help transitions run more smoothly
  • Reduce frustration for children and parents

Studies show visual schedules can improve independence, support executive functioning, increase on-task behaviour, and reduce anxiety during routines and transitions. The American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) also recognises visual supports as an effective way to enhance understanding, communication, and participation for children.

I hold a Bachelor of Speech and Language Therapy and have experience supporting children across early intervention and school-aged settings. Throughout my career, I’ve worked closely with families to support communication, language development, social communication, and everyday routines with practical strategies for home and school.

As both a Speech and Language Therapist and a mum, I’ve seen how powerful visuals can be in helping children process information and succeed in daily routines. I also wanted something practical, beautiful, and easy to incorporate into family life.

That’s why every A little help routine board is thoughtfully designed using high-quality wood, simple visuals, and child-friendly routines that make mornings and daily tasks feel more manageable, and even fun.

Our goal isn’t perfection. It’s creating small moments of calm, confidence, and independence for families.
